Sendbird Inc., a provider of mobile messaging and conversation services, has announced the availability of a new low code chatbot API powered by ChatGPT for developers.

It signifies the numerous mobile applications that rely on Sendbird can now integrate human-like conversational capabilities of OpenAI into their customer service chatbots. Sendbird is the creator of a well-known API that enables mobile apps such as Delivery Hero, Reddit, and Hinge to integrate real-time conversation, audio, and video capabilities, as well as push notifications, into their apps. It is also one of the most popular tools for integrating customer service chatbots into applications.

However, these chatbots have some limitations due to their reliance on pre-programmed programs. They are able to provide a series of standard responses to frequently asked questions but have difficulty handling more complex issues. This is where ChatGPT could be advantageous.

ChatGPT by OpenAI LP has taken the internet by storm with its extraordinary conversational skills. Trained on millions of publicly accessible web pages, it can provide human-like responses to virtually any query. In addition, OpenAI enables businesses to enhance ChatGPT’s capabilities by training it on their own knowledge bases, allowing it to be applied to more specific customer service use cases.

Sendbird announced that its API can now serve as middleware, allowing app developers to access ChatGPT and use it as the basis for their own chatbots. To improve customer service, businesses such as online marketplaces, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and educational institutions can construct ChatGPT-style chatbots trained on their own data and databases.

It facilitates a more genuine and personalized chat experience, as the chatbot can access information from internal customer relationship management software and previous conversations to provide more pertinent responses to user queries. Sendbird reported that scores of applications are now feasible.

For instance, healthcare providers can develop a chatbot to schedule physicians’ appointments while taking each physician’s availability into account. In the meantime, a provider of financial services can establish a customer service department to respond to customers’ inquiries about their recent expenditures. Or, an online marketplace can construct a support agent with prior conversations’ knowledge to provide a deeper level of customer care.

John Kim, Co-founder and CEO of Sendbird, stated that the company’s mission is to assist online businesses in establishing deeper connections with their consumers and completing tasks. Consequently, it makes ideal sense to utilize ChatGPT’s capabilities to provide more personalized experiences.

John Kim said,“The test cases that we’ve seen have been pretty amazing. And like all Sendbird offerings, the API integration is remarkably fast and easy so that developers can integrate the chatbot into their apps right away. As such, we can lower the barrier to entry for customers looking to leverage ChatGPT.”

Customers can attach their existing chatbots to ChatGPT using their OpenAI API key and the Sendbird dashboard. Developers will be able to create effective prompts and configure ChatGPT parameters from the dashboard. They can add existing chatbots to the service in the same way that they would add new users.

Sendbird stated that the ChatGPT integration provides the way for it to support additional large language models in the future, alluding to the presence of many more generative AI-powered use cases.
