Another international player in the artificial intelligence (AI) niche has chosen to settle in Montreal, where he will create some 50 jobs over the next 24 months.

The French company Axionable, which develops data and AI strategies for businesses, will open a research laboratory in the city. Axionable co-founder and general manager Gwendal Bihan made the announcement at the World Summit AI, which was in full swing until Thursday in Montreal. Axionable was created in Paris in 2016. Like the City of Light, the Montreal laboratory will devote its energies to applied research and implementation of AI projects, it was said, by press release. The company works primarily with banks and insurance companies, but also with media, distribution companies, and different industries. ”Settling in Montreal was obvious to us. The metropolis has become one of the most advanced neuralgic centers in the world of artificial intelligence research, “said Bihan. “We look forward to working alongside the world’s most renowned researchers and to delve into the heart of a bubbling ecosystem that brings together great players and promising startups,” he chained. “This internationalization that comes shortly after the creation of our company would not have been possible without the support of organizations such as Montréal International, Investissement Québec, and Business France,” continued Mr. Bihan.

Both the Government of Quebec, Investissement Québec and Montreal International are delighted with this additional addition to the Montreal IA ecosystem. “Montréal stands out not only for its concentration of researchers in deep learning but also for the importance it places on the social and ethical impacts of artificial intelligence,” said Hubert Bolduc, CEO of Montréal International.
